Our Story: Building Community, One Scoop at a Time

The Village Creamery & Grill isn't just a place to get delicious ice cream and food; it's a place where the community comes together. Our mission is to build up the local community by using locally-made products and creating a great environment for customers of all ages to enjoy.

We decided to open the Village Creamery & Grill as a way to give back to Shreve. We wanted to provide a haven for friends and families to come together, relax, and create lasting memories over a scoop (or two!) of ice cream and a delicious meal.

Our shop, a charming building with a rich history, was built in 1928 as a gas station. It has seen many transformations over the years, and we're excited to be part of its newest chapter as a beloved community gathering place. We're proud to embrace the town's history while looking forward to growing and serving the Shreve community for many years to come.

Local and Proud of it

We are especially proud to serve Holmes County's own Velvet-View Farms ice cream. This isn't your average ice cream – it's made with fresh milk from cows raised right here in Big Prairie, Ohio. In fact, the ice cream is crafted less than 30 feet away from where the cows are milked!

Velvet-View Farms is a family-owned operation that has been delighting ice cream lovers since 1948. Currently run by 5th generation dairy farmers, the Schlauch family milks about 30 Holsteins on their 200-acre farm in the rolling hills of Holmes County. Velvet-View Farms holds the distinction of being the oldest farmstead creamery in Ohio, and their commitment to quality and tradition shines through in every scoop.

We invite you to come experience the Village Creamery & Grill for yourself. Whether you're stopping by for a quick treat or settling in for a meal with loved ones, we're confident you'll feel the warmth of our community spirit and the deliciousness of our locally-sourced ingredients.

Acker Cattle Company

Home of Acker Grillin’ Beef, is a 5th generation 700-acre beef cattle farm in Wooster, Ohio. The farm is operated by Chad & Bre Acker and Dave Acker.

Most of the cattle are predominately Limousin Angus Cross. The uniqueness of Acker Beef is that everything is born and raised on the farm. The cows calve out on pasture so their babies can be raised on grass. After weaning they are moved to the barn to be finished on grain.

There are no hormones added to Acker Beef. The cattle are split into a Spring and Fall calving group so that beef is always available. Thank you for supporting local and EAT MORE BEEF!
